L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Award for Nicola Spaldin

Prof. Nicola Spaldin, Chair of Materials Theory, has been selected as the 2017 L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science” Laureate for Europe. This award recognizes her groundbreaking multidisciplinary work predicting, describing and creating new materials that have switchable magnetic and ferroelectric properties.

Selected by a community of more than 2,000 leading worldwide scientists, 2017’s five laureates were then awarded by an independent and international jury of 12 prominent scientists in the scientific community. The five women scientists will be celebrated on March 23rd 2017 at the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris. Each laureate will receive a Prize of €100,000 to reward their contribution to science.
